About Me

Myself:
Born and raised in Colorado, I relocated a little over two years ago to Portland, Oregon.  I live with my boyfriend Dave, who is a large part of the reason I moved here in the first place.  I am an only child.  In college at the University of Colorado, I studied poetry, literature and writing and graduated magna cum laude with an English (subset: writing) degree.  I suppose accreditations really oughtn't matter but if there's anywhere to make note of it, it's probably here.

I do a bit of jewelry making.  While earning my undergraduate degree, I studied silversmithing and jewelry design under Angela Olsgard and Lindsey Cash at Olsgard's studio / jewelry boutique in Boulder, Colorado.  You can see my jewelry available for sale here if you like... I try to list several new pieces per week.

My love of clothing started very early.  A story my mother likes to tell is about how at my baby shower, she and her friends sat around in a circle wishing positive thoughts for me for after I was born.  Everyone had very sweet things to say about having a fulfilling, peaceful and safe life.  One woman's daughter spoke up and said, "and I hope she always has as many clothes as she wants."  Ah, the power of intention!  I have been a lifelong thrift and antique shopper.  For me, the love of the find combines with a strange sort of nostalgia for a far-distant past – the combination is incredibly satisfying for me.  You can check out the vintage items in my Etsy shop here.

Note: I'm currently taking a break from selling vintage on Etsy.  I intend to continue to list absolute treasures when I find them but for the time being, I'm prioritizing jewelry fabrication and my day-job, working as a blogger for local Portland curiosity shop Eden.

The header image of this blog is a photo of a framed print that has been in my family for around 40 years.  A great auntie of mine (who herself is a whole 'nother story) purchased it for a pretty penny at some chi-chi gallery in San Francisco.  Her primary reason for buying this piece? Out of vanity! (The woman depicted bears a strong resemblance to her and also, a number of the other women in my family.)  In her 20s, my mother requested that my aunt leave her the naked lady and so, two decades later, it showed up at our house.  We used to hang it in place of our "normal" artwork to freak each other out.  Truthfully, I like it quite a bit and it still hangs in my house.

The sidebar images are photographs I've taken, some of small portions of pieces of art hanging in my house.
