(or, "Carry that load"?)
I'm in love with backpacks. When did that happen?
Mismo rucksacks - from here.
My job at Eden requires some hefting of my laptop to and from work. The backpack I brought to Portland with me, the one I carried throughout my last few years of college, the one that used to belong to my dad and which I love, has finally started to give out.
After some perusing online, I found what's probably closest to the platonic form of a backpack in my mind: these Mismo rucksacks (above) that I will never in three lifetimes actually be able to justify purchasing ($500 for a backpack, even a perfect backpack that I can only imagine as being hand-sewn by devilishly handsome Danes in a magical studio, is far, far out of my range.)
Ultimately, the first bag I found ended up being the winner. This Filson rucksack was advertised on one site as being "the last pack you will ever buy." I'm not much of a sporting enthusiast and the prospect (despite my new backpack love) of not having to think about it ever again is very agreeable to me. The construction is super sturdy (even stiff) and will last for years.
Also, I have the sweetest boyfriend. When his bike bag gave out last year, I ordered it's replacement and so, he's returning the favor in kind (thanks, Dave!)
